WATCH: Cowboys’ Kellen Moore dials up fake. Elliott touchdown catch

Ezekiel Elliott quickly returned from an awkward fall and high-stepped into the endzone on a witty play call by Kellen Moore.

All of AT&T Stadium gasped after running back Ezekiel Elliott landed back-first on the pylon following a seven-yard gain. Elliott was on the ground for a while but was able to get up under his own power. After just two snaps on the sideline, Elliott returned to the game.

On 2nd-and-goal, offensive coordinator Kellen Moore had some trickery ready for the bell-cow runner. After quarterback Dak Prescott faked the pitch to Elliott, the defense forgot about him and he snuck out to the flat for an easy catch and he high-stepped into the endzone to let the Dallas faithful know he’s just fine.

That’s Elliott’s first receiving touchdown of the season and fifth score of the year. The sixth-year back is now up to 85 total yards in the game as the Cowboys stretch their lead to double digits midway through the third quarter.

Giants Daniel Jones, Kenny Golladay officially ruled out vs Cowboys

The Giants are now without a plethora of offensive starters with Daniel Jones and Kenny Golladay ruled out for the rest of the game.

The Giants were already shorthanded coming into Sunday but they’ll have to dig deep without their leaders on offense. Running back Saquon Barkley rolled his ankle badly in the first quarter and was ruled out for the game after being carted from the sideline. The injuries continue to pile up for New York.

Quarterback Daniel Jones had to be carted off with a concussion after a huge collision with Jabril Cox at the goal line and he is officially out for the second half. Stacking onto the injuries, WR Kenny Golladay was ruled out with a knee injury.

 

New York is now without their starting quarterback, star running back and top three receivers. Kadarius Toney has stepped up with over 121 yards early in the third quarter and he’ll have to carry the offensive load if the Giants are going to have a chance to come back.

WATCH: Cowboys’ Prescott hits Cooper for TD on wicked route

On their final drive of the half, Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper combined for the second Dallas touchdown of the game to regain the lead.

The first half has been a sloppy one for the Cowboys but they ended it off on a strong note. The Giants marched down on a bad defensive drive for Dallas and punched it in with Devontae Booker for a tying touchdown. The score didn’t come without sacrifice, with Daniel Jones wobbling after taking a helmet-to-helmet hit from Jabril Cox at the goal line.

Dak Prescott and the offense took over with 2:51 left in the first half and sparked the drive with a pair of passes to Amari Cooper and Dalton Schultz. The versatile tight end then made two more catches to drive the Cowboys down to the Giants 24-yard line.

James Bradberry dropped an interception of Prescott, breaking on a pass quickly, and the Dallas quarterback made the defense pay for it. Cooper cooked the New York defense on a quick route and Prescott delivered a dime to take the lead back at 17-10.

Injury Alert: Giants RB Barkley out after being carted off with ankle injury

Saquon Barkley rolled his ankle on Jourdan Lewis after in an incomplete pass and is now ruled OUT for the rest of the game.

The Giants entered today missing their fair share of weapons. Top receivers Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton were ruled out and now they’re without their best player in Saquon Barkley.

Last week, Barkley had his best game of the season with over 100 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns. Early in the Week 5 matchup with Dallas, Barkley ran a slant and rolled his ankle on Jourdan Lewis, and immediately fell to the ground.

Barkley was able to make it to the sideline and large swelling built up quickly, causing New York to bring out the cart for their star running back. The Giants immediately ruled Barkley out with the ankle injury and the severity of it is yet to be determined.

Devontae Booker will take over a large portion of the snaps for Barkley in his absence.

Elliott active, Keanu Neal returns as Cowboys-Giants announce Week 5 inactives

During the week, the Dallas Cowboys had three big players on the injury report. Ezekiel Elliott, Amari Cooper and Randy Gregory were all questionable for Week 5 after having great games against the formerly undefeated Panthers.

Thankfully, the trio is all good to go and active versus New York. More good news for Dallas, Keanu Neal returns after missing two games in COVID protocol after Jaylon Smith was traded, so he’ll see plenty of snaps.

The Cowboys’ six inactives include Dorance Armstrong and Carlos Watkins, who have been contributors on the defensive line but are overshadowed by the young talent. As expected, Will Grier is inactive while Israel Mukuamu, Brandon Knight and Simi Fehoko round out the list.

The Giants will be heavily shorthanded on offense, missing key pass-catchers Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard. Kadarius Toney is expected to pick up the workload in their absence across from Kenny Golladay. Toney had six catches for 78 yards in the overtime win over the Saints last week.

On the offensive line, Andrew Thomas will play but he’ll be without his neighboring left guard in Ben Bredeson. New York’s defense will be without Jabrill Peppers, who has been a huge hybrid piece for the Giants while reserve cornerbacks Josh Jackson and Sam Beal are healthy scratches.

The Dallas Cowboys are just two days away from facing the New York Giants in a divisional matchup.  The Cowboys are riding a three-game winning streak while the Giants are coming off an overtime win. The Cowboys offense is performing effectively on both sides of the ball through four weeks with the defense being particularly opportunistic with takeaways leading as they’ve forced turnovers on 22.3% of their opponents possessions.

The Giants are looking to replicate their success through the air last week in their win against the New Orleans Saints. Quarterback Daniel Jones had a career-high 402 yards passing while completing 70% of his passing attempts as the Giants etched their first win of the season.

The Dallas Cowboys enter a third-straight home game against the New York Giants on Sunday. New York is coming off of an overtime win against the Saints while Dallas is coming off back-to-back impressive home wins as part of three straight victories.

As to be expected in a divisional showdown, there will be storylines to watch and matchups to key on. The Dallas offense has been impressive so far, scoring 36-plus points in their last two games and there’s no reason to expect that will change against the Giants. That being said, what can change?

Daniel Jones has had an impressive start to the season, but will Trevon Diggs spoil it with another interception against an injury-ridden receiver core? Penn State standouts Saquon Barkley and Micah Parsons will face off for the first time and there’s plenty of speed and star power between the two to keep an eye out for.

This is another return to AT&T Stadium for Jason Garrett, but this time he faces a new and improved Dallas defense under Dan Quinn. Here’s three matchups to focus on for Cowboys-Giants on Sunday.

The Dallas Cowboys went into their match up with the undefeated Carolina Panthers with a chance to prove some things to any non-believers. The Panthers were at the top of the league in many categories defensively, including being the best team at stopping the run and the Dallas offense would rush for 245 yards, a 7.2 yard average. By the end of the game Carolina fell from 45 rushing yards allowed per game, tops in the league, to 95 yards a game, which put them 10th. They had allowed 30 total points through three games, and the Cowboys put up 36 points on them Sunday. Dallas set out to show that there was only one elite unit on the field in that game and the Cowboys’ offense was it.

The Week 5 home game against the New York Giants misses the one year anniversary of the Dak Prescott injury by a single day. It’s not known how it will impact this game, but Prescott has won seven straight games against the Giants and he is looking better than ever. The real question for the Cowboys’ offense is will they attack the Giants through the ground or through the air? The Giants have been equally mediocre defending both, so the Cowboys can attack them with either one depending on how the defense lines up. Expect the offense to have a really big day on Sunday.

The Cowboys defense will be tested more than fans might believe. Dallas has been largely reliant on turnovers so far this season, but the Giants have been very protective of the ball this year. They, like the Cowboys, have only three giveaways so far this season. One interception and two fumbles lost, a turnover percentage of 7.3%. That is eighth in the league.

Cowboys nation might be surprised to find out the Giants offense does things very well on a per-drive basis. The scoring percentage for the Cowboys is fifth in the league at 46.7%, New York is at 11 with 41.5%. Yards per drive is even closer. Dallas is at seventh while it’s eighth for New York. The home team converts on third downs at a 50% rate, fourth in the league, and the road team is at 42.9%, which lands them 11th again.

The Giants have a solid offense yardage wise, but they drop off in the  points per drive category. The Giants only muster 2.02 points per drive, barely making the top 20 in the NFL. The drop off comes in the red-zone where they are last in the NFL, only scoring touchdowns 33.3% of the time. This could be what keeps this game competitive or not. Can the Dallas defense show up and stop the Giants in the red zone, or will Jason Garrett turn around his offensive woes in that area..
