Fantasy football draft: Where to target Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen

Analyzing Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen’s 2021 fantasy football ADP and where you should target him in your drafts.

Following a breakout season by Los Angeles Chargers rookie QB Justin Herbert, No. 1 target WR Keenan Allen will look to set career-high numbers. Below, we look at Keenan Allen‘s 2021 fantasy football average draft position (ADP) and where you should draft him.

Drafted by the Chargers in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft, Allen has not disappointed. He’s topped 1,000 receiving yards in three of his last four seasons and was just 8 yards shy of 1K last season.

Allen caught passes his first seven NFL seasons from now-retired QB Philip Rivers and heads into his second season with the strong-armed Herbert.

With Herbert looking to improve upon his rookie numbers, the storm of his improvement and the lack of other weapons could result in the best numbers of Allen’s career.

Allen’s ADP: 34.31

(ADP data courtesy of MyFantasyLeague.com)

Allen’s ADP has him being the 34th non-IDP player taken off the board. He’s the 10th wide receiver off the board and the second Charger taken, only behind RB Austin Ekeler.

When it comes to wideouts, Allen has been taken just ahead of Philadelphia Eagles rookie WR DeVonta Smith and after Tennessee Titans standout WR A.J. Brown. Allen has been taken as high as No. 15 and as low as 70.

Allen’s 2020 stats

Targets: 147

Receptions: 100

Receiving yards: 992

Touchdowns: 8

Where should you take Allen in your fantasy football draft?

Everything is set for Allen to have the best season of his career.

The 29-year-old Allen will, by far, be Herbert’s top target, and he should catch at least 100 receptions. Last season, Allen ranked 14th for receivers in points per game in standard leagues. In PPR, his rank jumped to seventh.

In PPR leagues, Allen should be taken in the middle of the third round with his value dropping off just a bit in standard leagues.

If he’s not retained in a keeper league, feel free to target him at any point, assuming it’s in the third or fourth round. Allen isn’t an elite long-term option, but he could put up the best season of his career.

Fantasy football draft: Where to target San Francisco 49ers RB Raheem Mostert

Analyzing San Francisco 49ers RB Raheem Mostert’s 2021 fantasy football ADP and where you should target him in your drafts.

San Francisco 49ers RB Raheem Mostert had somewhat of a breakout season in 2019 with 772 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns. He also had a memorable 220-yard, 4-touchdown game in the playoffs against the Green Bay Packers.

However, he struggled with his health in 2020, playing in only eight games.

Entering 2021, he hopes to stay healthy and be the 49ers’ main running back, staving off rookie RB Trey Sermon.

What can we expect out of Mostert in the upcoming season in terms of fantasy production? Below, we look at Raheem Mostert‘s 2021 fantasy football average draft position (ADP) and where you should draft him.

Mostert’s ADP: 86.86

(ADP data courtesy of MyFantasyLeague.com)

Mostert ranks 138th among all offensive players. He is owned in only 32% of leagues and is selected as high as 16th and as low as 240th.

He is 45th among running backs, just ahead of New England Patriots RB Damien Harris (46th).

Mostert’s 2020 stats

Rushing: 104 carries, 521 yards

Receiving: 16 receptions, 156 yards

Touchdowns: 2 rushing, 1 receiving

Where should you take Mostert in your fantasy football draft?

Mostert’s career-high in rushing attempts is 137, which he had in 2019. It’s his only season in which he has not missed a game.

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan prefers to rotate running backs and Mostert doesn’t offer anything in the passing game, so his value is limited. Plus, San Francisco drafted Sermon, who is more suited to be a featured back than Mostert is.

If healthy, Mostert can be dynamic. The problem is he has had 15 carries or more in only five games in his career, including the playoffs.

He isn’t your RB1. He is a guy to have on the bench after you have filled almost all your slots. I won’t even consider him until at least the eighth round.

Fantasy football draft: Where to target Carolina Panthers WR DJ Moore

Analyzing Carolina Panthers WR DJ Moore’s 2021 fantasy football ADP and where you should target him in your drafts.

Carolina Panthers WR DJ Moore will have a new quarterback to build rapport with heading into the 2021 NFL campaign. Below, we look at DJ Moore‘s 2021 fantasy football average draft position (ADP) and where you should draft him.

Moore has recorded back-to-back 1,000-yard campaigns for the Panthers despite the fact he has had to work with several different starting quarterbacks. He’ll get another new face under center this season, as QB Sam Darnold takes the reins of the offense in 2021.

Moore’s ADP: 53.17

(ADP data courtesy of MyFantasyLeague.com)

Moore has been in the top 25 among wide receivers off the board during fantasy drafts. He has been picked as early as the latter part of Round 4 in some leagues of 12 or more teams.

The receiver enjoyed his finest season in 2020 in terms of average yardage per reception at 18.1 yards. While he went from 87 receptions in 2019 to a mere 66 grabs in 2020, he actually posted 18 more receiving yards at 1,193 while turning in four touchdowns for the second consecutive campaign.

Moore’s 2020 stats

Targets: 118

Receptions: 66

Yards: 1,193

Touchdowns: 4

Where should you take Moore in your fantasy football draft?

Moore has kind of snuck up on fantasy managers. He burst onto the scene in his rookie campaign of 2018 with 55 grabs, 788 yards and two touchdowns working with QB Cam Newton.

As mentioned, he had his first 1,000-yard season in 2019, and he jelled nicely with QB Teddy Bridgewater last season, producing big numbers despite the addition of WR Robby Anderson on the other side.

Now, Moore will get a chance to work with a new QB in Darnold, starting with a normal training camp and preseason to jell with the new signal caller.

Moore will be an outstanding WR2 in most fantasy formats, especially in PPR leagues. He has shown durability. He is consistent and it doesn’t matter if there is a new quarterback running the offense, as Moore is tremendously adaptable.

Start looking for Moore at the end of Round 4 or into Round 5 in fantasy drafts with 12 or more teams. He doesn’t get the press and attention like other players in a similar area of the draft like Dallas Cowboys WR Amari Cooper (ADP 52.88) or Tennessee Titans WR Julio Jones (ADP 51.77), but Moore is just as productive and easily in the same league as those more heralded wideouts.

Fantasy football draft: Where to target Las Vegas Raiders RB Josh Jacobs

Analyzing Las Vegas Raiders RB Josh Jacobs’ 2021 fantasy football ADP and where you should target him in your drafts.

Las Vegas Raiders RB Josh Jacobs heads into his third NFL season looking to remain on his upward trajectory. Below, we look at Josh Jacobs‘ 2021 fantasy football average draft position (ADP) and where you should draft him.

Jacobs recorded back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing campaigns in his first two seasons. He ran for 1,150 yards as a rookie in 2019 despite playing 13 games. Last season, he registered 1,065 rushing yards with a career-high 12 touchdowns in 15 games. He also showed some growth catching the ball out of the backfield.

Jacobs’ ADP: 43.77

(ADP data courtesy of MyFantasyLeague.com)

In redraft leagues, Jacobs has been going off the board as the 20th running back, which puts him squarely in the conversation of low-end RB2 or must-have flex fantasy option.

He picked up the pace a little bit catching the ball out of the backfield in 2020, going for 33 grabs and 238 yards. No one is going to confuse him with a PPR stud, but every little bit helps. If he can take another step forward in that department, and maybe add a touchdown or two, that would only enhance his value.

Jacobs’ 2020 stats

Rushing: 273 carries for 1,065 yards

Receiving: 33 receptions for 238 yards

Touchdowns: 12 rushing, 0 receiving

Fumbles: 2 (2 lost)

Where should you take Jacobs in your fantasy football draft?

Jacobs is a beast in the backfield. He has been going off draft boards as early as Round 4. That’s all well and good, but I am a little concerned about the team’s acquisition of RB Kenyan Drake.

Drake has proven in the past that he can carry the mail in the NFL, and head coach Jon Gruden could elect to give Jacobs more breathers, which, of course, fantasy managers never want to see.

Add in the fact the Raiders have RB Jalen Richard and RB Theo Riddick on the roster, two players who can catch the ball out of the backfield, and there are certainly plenty of reasons to give fantasy managers pause on Jacobs.

Jacobs also went from 4.8 yards per carry in 2019 to just 3.9 yards per tote last season, and he has missed four NFL games in 32 career outings. As such, you’re still going to want to grab Jacobs as a RB2. However, make sure you make plans to draft Drake as the handcuff as Jacobs has a propensity for injury.

I like Jacobs. He is a bowling ball, capable of just bulling his way into the end zone, especially as a goal-line back. But I can definitely see a decrease in overall touches with the depth Vegas has in the backfield. Buyer, beware.

Fantasy football draft: Where to target Las Vegas Raiders QB Derek Carr

Analyzing Las Vegas Raiders QB Derek Carr’s 2021 fantasy football ADP and where you should target him in your drafts.

Las Vegas Raiders QB Derek Carr will be searching for his fourth consecutive 4,000-yard season in 2021. Below, we look at Derek Carr‘s 2021 fantasy football average draft position (ADP) and where you should draft him.

Carr tossed 27 touchdowns last season, his most since a 28-touchdown performance in 2016 back in Oakland. He also threw a career-high 4,103 passing yards last season.

Carr is finally living up to the immense hype he had coming out of Fresno State in 2014.

Carr’s ADP: 124.71

(ADP data courtesy of MyFantasyLeague.com)

Despite Carr’s career-high passing yardage and his reduction in miscues, he is the 27th quarterback off the board in fantasy drafts this summer. He has been going generally in the neighborhood of Round 7 or Round 8 in redraft fantasy formats as a middle of the pack QB2.

That’s generally right in the same neck of the woods as Indianapolis Colts QB Carson Wentz (ADP 126.66) and Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa (also an ADP of 126.66).

Carr’s 2020 stats

Passing: 4,103 yards, 27 touchdowns, 9 interceptions

Rushing: 140 yards, 3 touchdowns

Fumbles: 11

Where should you take Carr in your fantasy football draft?

Carr is coming off what could be called a career year, at least by his standards. He even had a career best in rushing yardage and touchdowns on the ground, yet fantasy managers continue to treat him as a middle of the road QB2.

The Raiders have a cadre of decent young receivers in WR Henry Ruggs III, WR Bryan Edwards and WR Hunter Renfrow. They also added veteran  WRs John Brown and Willie Snead to the mix.

That’s great news for Carr, as is the fact Las Vegas used its top pick to snag OT Alex Leatherwood to help keep Carr upright.

Carr remains a solid bye-week replacement, injury sub and a guy to use when the matchup is favorable, particularly in DFS. But he isn’t a regular must-start fantasy option even though he surpassed 4,000 yards for a third straight season.

Carr should be going off the draft board in the final rounds, mainly for those with primary starters with a propensity for injury. He’ll likely be available off the waiver wire in leagues of 12 or fewer teams into the early weeks.

Fantasy football draft: Where to target Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa

Analyzing Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa’s 2021 fantasy football ADP and where you should target him in your drafts.

Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa will kick off his first full season under center as the starter. Below, we look at Tua Tagovailoa‘s 2021 fantasy football average draft position (ADP) and where you should draft him.

The Dolphins kicked the training wheels off late in the season and handed Tagovailoa the keys to the car. He had some growing pains but took the team to a 10-win season and within a whisker of a postseason berth.

By letting veteran QB Ryan Fitzpatrick go to the Washington Football Team in the offseason, it’s the “Tua Show” in South Florida now.

Tagovailoa’s ADP: 124.84

(ADP data courtesy of MyFantasyLeague.com)

Tagovailoa has been going off the board as the No. 21 quarterback in redraft fantasy leagues, or as a low-end QB2 in leagues of 12 or more teams. He has been just behind New York Jets rookie QB Zach Wilson (ADP 124.91) and just behind Indianapolis Colts QB Carson Wentz (ADP 127.46) in redraft leagues.

Tagovailoa’s 2020 stats

Passing: 1,814 yards, 11 touchdowns, 5 interceptions

Rushing: 109 yards, 3 touchdowns

Fumbles: 1

Where should you take Tagovailoa in your fantasy football draft?

Tagovailoa has been targeted as a low-end QB2 in most fantasy formats, and therefore his appeal is a little on the limited side.

However, the Dolphins drafted former Alabama teammate WR Jaylen Waddle to give Tagovailoa another option downfield. Waddle will pair with holdover WRs DeVante Parker and Will Fuller to give the Dolphins an injury-prone, but very talented wide receiver corps.

WR Lynn Bowden Jr., converted quarterback from his days at Kentucky, showed some signs of life last season, and WRs Preston Williams and Jakeem Grant also have speed to burn.

The running game for the Dolphins leaves a lot to be desired, so Tagovailoa will likely be jacking the ball up plenty in 2021. Plus, don’t forget about TE Mike Gesicki, who has also proven to be a very valuable asset at times.

Can Tagovailoa be a fantasy option worth starting? It depends. He’ll definitely see some starts for fantasy managers in leagues of 16 or more teams. He has lesser appeal in leagues of 12 or fewer teams, and he’ll likely only be active on bye weeks or when your primary option has a difficult matchup or an injury.

On draft day, Tagovailoa can mostly be left to the waiver wire except for deeper leagues.

Fantasy football draft: Where to target Arizona Cardinals RB Chase Edmonds

Analyzing Arizona Cardinals RB Chase Edmonds’ 2021 fantasy football ADP and where you should target him in your drafts.

Arizona Cardinals RB Chase Edmonds saw his workload on offense double in 2020 and, while he was not a starter, he was a key component to their offense last season. He had 850 total yards of offense and scored five touchdowns, playing as a complementary back to Kenyan Drake.

Now that Drake left for the Las Vegas Raiders in free agency, Edmonds is poised to be the Cardinals’ starting and lead running back in 2021, which will increase his fantasy value.

Below, we look at Chase Edmonds‘ 2021 fantasy football average draft position (ADP) and where you should draft him.

Edmonds’ ADP: 66.19 overall

(ADP data courtesy of MyFantasyLeague.com)

Edmonds’ ADP ranks 88th among all offensive players. He is owned in 54% of leagues and where owners are drafting him has a lot of variance. He is selected as high at ninth overall and as low as 125th.

Among running backs, he is ranked 29th, sandwiched between Atlanta Falcons RB Mike Davis (28th), and New England Patriots rookie RB Rhamondre Stevenson (30th).

Edmonds’ 2020 stats

Rushing: 448 yards, 4.6 yards per carry

Receiving: 53 receptions, 402 yards

Touchdowns: 1 rushing, 4 receiving

Where should you take Edmonds in your fantasy football draft?

Edmonds is tough to project. He will share the load with fellow RB James Conner but should have a greater role, especially in the passing game. That makes Edmonds valuable in PPR leagues. I project him to have about 1,500 total yards combined between rushing and receiving.

The touchdowns are tough. He is a big-play threat in both the run and pass game, but he might not get as much use near the goal line. Arizona brought in Conner because of his size and QB Kyler Murray is a big threat to score.

Edmonds could be a major sleeper, which is why he does get some early looks. Fantasy owners see how Drake had 18 rushing TDs in 23 games for the Cards and they think Edmonds will slide right in.

It won’t be that way.

Edmonds will have value, but don’t overvalue him. He is worth waiting until the fourth or fifth round.

Fantasy football draft: Where to target New York Jets QB Zach Wilson

Analyzing New York Jets QB Zach Wilson’s 2021 fantasy football ADP and where you should target him in your drafts.

New York Jets QB Zach Wilson heads into his rookie season with sky-high expectations after being the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Below, we look at Zach Wilson‘s 2021 fantasy football average draft position (ADP) and where you should draft him.

Wilson will take the reins of the offense immediately as the Jets shipped former first-round pick Sam Darnold to the Carolina Panthers in the offseason. Only Wilson, QB James Morgan and QB Mike White remain in the Gang Green quarterbacks room. So, it’s sink or swim for Wilson.

Wilson’s ADP: 44.56

(ADP data courtesy of MyFantasyLeague.com)

In redraft leagues, Wilson has an ADP of 124.91 and has been going off the board as the 24th quarterback, so he has some low-end QB2 value. That means he’ll likely be treated as a backup, injury replacement and streaming option once the bye weeks start to kick in.

Ironically, he has been picked ahead of Carolina’s Darnold, who has a redraft-league ADP of 145.08.

Wilson’s 2020 stats (at BYU)

Passing: 3,692 yards, 33 touchdowns, 3 interceptions

Rushing: 254 yards, 10 touchdowns

Where should you take Wilson in your fantasy football draft?

Wilson’s fantasy value really depends on the format. In redraft formats, he has been picked as a low-end QB2 in leagues with 12 or more teams. That means he is worth picking in the later rounds, and he’ll likely be available as a free agent into the first few games of the regular season.

In keeper-league drafts, Wilson has been the 14th quarterback off the board with an ADP of 36.55. Fantasy managers have really been all over the board in terms of Wilson’s long-term value with some valuing him way more.

The Jets rookie has a solid cadre of receivers with PPR monster WR Jamison Crowder as his top veteran target, and WR Corey Davis joining the mix. WR Denzel Mims is also a solid, young wideout with whom Wilson can develop a nice rapport. The cupboard is certainly not bare for Wilson.

However, it’s going to be a while before he is considered a must-start fantasy option. I’d take him as a flier in the final couple of rounds in redraft leagues, and expect he’ll be on and off the waiver wire for most of the season unless he absolutely exceeds expectations by miles.

No one is expecting that at the moment, however, and glimpses of brilliance with growing pains are more likely.

Fantasy football draft: Where to target Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts

Analyzing Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts’ 2021 fantasy football ADP and where you should target him in your drafts.

Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts will begin his first full season as the starting quarterback after taking over the starting chores late in 2020. Below, we look at Jalen Hurts‘ 2021 fantasy football average draft position (ADP) and where you should draft him.

Hurts was named the starting quarterback late last season after taking over for QB Carson Wentz. The latter has since been traded to the Indianapolis Colts, so the keys to the car are officially in the hands of Hurts, and we’ll see how far he can drive this Eagles offense in 2021.

Jalen Hurts’ ADP: 48.61

(ADP data courtesy of MyFantasyLeague.com)

Fantasy managers apparently liked what they saw from Hurts last season, enough so that he has flown off the draft board as the 11th quarterback in redraft leagues this summer.

Once the top 10 options are gone, it is a crapshoot, as Hurts is just ahead of Joe Burrow (Cincinnati Bengals, ADP: 49.33), Matthew Stafford (Los Angeles Rams, ADP: 50.20) and Trevor Lawrence (Jacksonville Jaguars, ADP: 63.46).

Jalen Hurts’ 2020 stats

Passing: 1,061 yards, 6 touchdowns, 4 interceptions

Rushing: 354 yards, 3 touchdowns

Fumbles: 9

Where should you take Jalen Hurts in your fantasy football draft?

Hurts has been going off the draft board near the end of Round 5 in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams. That seems extremely, extremely early to me, and I’d pass on that for sure.

Hurts is going to rack up plenty of rushing yards, and he’ll be a poor man’s Lamar Jackson if he can stay healthy for the entire season. The second-year quarterback is an exciting player, and he will be under center in a very fun offense. However, pinning your fantasy hopes on an unproven guy, especially as your QB1, is a little on the foolish side in my humble opinion.

Hurts will be joined by Heisman Trophy winner WR DeVonta Smith, and the Eagles also hope second-year WR Jalen Reagor can take a big step forward. WR Travis Fulgham came out of nowhere and stepped up in a big way in 2020, and he gives Hurts and the Eagles a viable third receiver option.

Add in TEs Dallas Goedert and Zach Ertz, and Hurts suddenly doesn’t look too shabby as a low-end QB1.

Still, I have a big problem drafting a quarterback of this magnitude in the neighborhood of Rounds 4-5. Most of the guys from rankings 11 through 20 are rather interchangeable, and you could get a highly decorated skill position instead.

Once the top-10 quarterbacks are off the board, which Hurts is certainly not, you can hold off until Round 9-12 for a starter. If you were able to get Hurts in that neighborhood, then by all means do so, but I wouldn’t take him any earlier than Round 9 in redraft play.

Fantasy football draft: Where to target Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff

Analyzing Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff’s 2021 fantasy football ADP and where you should target him in your drafts.

Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff looks to turn over a new leaf in the Motor City after an offseason trade from the Los Angeles Rams. Below, we look at Jared Goff‘s 2021 fantasy football average draft position (ADP) and where you should draft him.

Goff was swapped for QB Matthew Stafford this offseason, as the Rams elected to go another way. It’s a new start for Goff, who last season had his fewest passing yards since 2017. He also had his lowest yards per attempt since his 2016 rookie season.

Jared Goff’s ADP: 127.12

(ADP data courtesy of MyFantasyLeague.com)

Fantasy managers do not appear to think much of Goff, and it appears not many believe a change of scenery will lead to much success.

He is currently the 29th quarterback off the board in redraft leagues, behind even the likes of Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson (average pick – 120.09).

Jared Goff’s 2020 stats

Passing: 3,952 yards, 20 touchdowns, 13 interceptions

Rushing: 99 yards, 4 touchdowns

Fumbles: 7

Where should you take Jared Goff in your fantasy football draft?

Goff heads to a situation where he’ll have a high-end target in TE T.J. Hockenson, a player believed to be in the top five at his position in terms of fantasy.

That’s the good news. The bad news is that he’ll have a hodgepodge of wideouts with Breshad Perriman, Kalif Raymond and Tyrell Williams as the top three targets. Victor Bolden Jr., Quintez Cephus and rookie Amon-Ra St. Brown make up the second group, but that’s not a receiving corps that will scare anybody.

Goff was able to do some good things last season, including a 67.0 completion percentage and 4 rushing touchdowns, both career highs. He will also be able to operate behind a somewhat competent offensive line, and one which improved dramatically in the draft with the addition of OT Penei Sewell.

However, Goff is still considered a low-end QB2 or QB3 in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams heading into 2021. He might be a streaming option when your primary option has a bye, or as an injury replacement, but he could easily go undrafted in the majority of leagues.
