NFL won’t play international games in 2020

The NFL will not play games internationally in 2020.

The NFL schedule is going to be released by the end of the week. News has already come out the league will not play games in Europe or Mexico City in 2020.

The league was set to hold four games in London and one in Mexico City this season. The Jacksonville Jaguars were slated to play two home games in London’s Wembley Stadium, while two other NFL contests were scheduled to be played at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with the Atlanta Falcons and Miami Dolphins as hosts. The NFL also was scheduled to play a game at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, with the Arizona Cardinals as the home team.

Pittsburgh Steelers 2020 schedule to be released this week

The NFL is reportedly set to release its 2020 preseason and regular-season game schedule this week.

The COVID-19 pandemic isn’t affecting the NFL game schedule. At least not yet.

According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the full 2020 schedule — all 16 games and 17 weeks — will be released this week with no adjustments expected. The regular-season opener will still be set for Thursday, Sept. 10, while the Super Bowl will remain as scheduled for Feb. 7 in Tampa, Fla.

As reported by John Ourand and Ben Fischer of Sports Business Journal, the NFL has told network executives to expect the schedule release to be as early as Thurs., May 7.

In a Tweet from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, league spokesperson Brian McCarthy said that the preseason schedule, including the Pittsburgh Steelers-Dallas Cowboys Hall of Fame game on Aug. 8, is also slated to be released.

We won’t know for a few more days when the games will be played, but we do know where they’ll be played and who the Steelers’ opponents will be.

Home Away
Washington Redskins Tennessee Titans
Denver Broncos Buffalo Bills
Baltimore Ravens New York Giants
Cincinnati Bengals Jacksonville Jaguars
Cleveland Browns Cleveland Browns
Houston Texans Dallas Cowboys
Indianapolis Colts Cincinnati Bengals
Philadelphia Eagles Baltimore Ravens

Of course, just because a schedule is released doesn’t mean it can’t change between now and the preseason. Thankfully, there is some time to take a wait-and-see approach before dates are finalized.

Partnering with the NFL Players Association and medical experts, contingencies are being discussed, such as delaying the season to mid-October, no bye weeks, no Pro Bowl (oh, no!!), and a late February Super Bowl.

So far, the league has successfully made adjustments to free agency, the draft, and offseason workouts. I have to think that if they need to make adjustments to the game schedule, they’ll do so without any issues.

Tennessee Titans’ full 17-week schedule to be released next week

The NFL expects the 2020 season to start on time.

Despite the coronavirus pandemic still impacting life as we know it, the NFL is going ahead with the release of the 2020 schedules for every team next week and plans on starting the season on time.

The news comes from ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, who cites league spokesman Brian McCarthy.

The league will release its 2020 schedule late next week without any major changes, league spokesman Brian McCarthy confirmed — including a Sept. 10 opener, the Super Bowl on Feb. 7 and visions of fans in the stands.

“We plan to start on time,” McCarthy said.

While no specific date is given for the release, Fowler points to a report by ESPN’s Chris Mortensen last month that stated it will happen no later than May 9.

The NFL schedule is usually released sometime before the NFL Draft, but that was moved back because of the coronavirus outbreak.

Per the Associated Press, the league is also working on contingency plans just in case the outbreak worsens. Some of those include a delayed start to the season or a late-winter Super Bowl.

But one of the rumored potential contingency plans “not on the table” is having all games played at a central location, per Fowler’s report.

One option not on the table, a source told ESPN, is gathering players at a centralized location to execute a season. The NBA and Major League Baseball have discussed playing at a neutral site such as Walt Disney World, Las Vegas or Arizona, but the NFL doesn’t plan to do that.

While we don’t know the exact times and dates of the Titans’ games, we do know exactly which teams Tennessee will play, both at home and on the road.

They are as follows:

Home Opponents

Houston Texans

Indianapolis Colts

Jacksonville Jaguars

Buffalo Bills

Chicago Bears

Cleveland Browns

Detroit Lions

Pittsburgh Steelers

Away opponents

Houston Texans

Indianapolis Colts

Jacksonville Jaguars

Baltimore Ravens

Cincinnati Bengals

Denver Broncos

Green Bay Packers

Minnesota Vikings

A reminder of who the Bucs’ 2020 opponents will be

The NFL is set to release it’s full 17-week schedule next week. Find out who the Buccaneers’ opponents will be in 2020.

With the NFL set to release a full 17-week schedule late next week, teams can finally start to get an idea of how their 2020 season will unfold (hopefully).

While the league’s plan may seem optimistic right now given the uncertainty of the coronavirus pandemic, it will at least provide some structure and clarity for them to work from.

For the Bucs, the 2020 season will be hopefully end a 12-year playoff drought, and with six-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady under center, Tampa Bay looks ready to contend.

While we’ll have to wait until next week to find out the Buccaneers’ schedule, we do know who their opponents will be at least.

Here’s a quick reminder:

HOME: Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints, Los Angeles Chargers, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers and Los Angeles Rams

AWAY: Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Denver Broncos, Las Vegas Raiders, New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers and New York Giants

Fortunately, for the Bucs, Brady has had success against each of these opponents. (To see his record and stats versus each, click here.)

The home slate looks insanely brutal, especially when you consider the Bucs will be facing five quarterbacks who have played in a Super Bowl. Regardless of how those games are scheduled, it will be a tough home season for the Bucs either way.

Good thing they have a quarterback now who knows a thing or two about winning big games.

4 most intriguing games on Broncos’ 2020 schedule

Though it’s early in the offseason, here is a look at the four intriguing opponents for the Denver Broncos in 2020.

The official schedule won’t be released for the 2020 NFL season for a couple of months but we do know which opponents the Denver Broncos will play next season.

Yes, this is early. The 2019 season recently concluded and things like free agency and the draft could change this list entirely in a few months. But it’s the offseason and during the offseason, you will see a lot of projections and predictions for the upcoming season.

That’s how hardcore football fans help cope with the fact that football season is over.

So here we are, in early February, projecting what will be the four most intriguing games for the Broncos next season.

1. Kansas City Chiefs

(Jamie Squire/Getty Images)

We’ll start right at the top with the team that will go into the 2020 season as the reigning champions.

The Chiefs are the team that is currently giving John Elway and the rest of his staff nightmares as they try to figure out just how the Broncos are going to overcome this huge obstacle within the AFC West division.

Not only are the Chiefs the defending Super Bowl champions, but they have also won nine straight games against the Broncos dating back to when Peyton Manning was the team’s quarterback.

2. New England Patriots

How will the Patriots look next season? Will Tom Brady be the quarterback? Will they even win the AFC East?

The Patriots have been the league’s dominant team for nearly two decades, but many feel that ship has finally sailed. Still, it’s a team coached by Bill Belichick and it’s a team that could easily bounce back because it’s what this team does.

The Patriots will be one of the most intriguing teams in the entire league next year.
