Arkansas football all-time roster: Coaches, kickers and specialists

See which coaching and special teams legends made the cut in our all-time Arkansas football roster.

We have come to the conclusion.

Here at Razorbacks Wire, we spent this last full week before the season opener giving our picks for the All-Time Arkansas Roster. We picked starters and reserves on the offense and starters and reserves on the defense earlier this week

Now it’s time for special teams and the coaching staff.

Make no mistake, this was not an easy task (except for picking the head coach, of course). Weeks were spent in preparation. Sixteen of them, in fact. And, yes, we could hear arguments for moving some our listed back-ups to starters, adding a player for another here and there. We aren’t perfect.

But it isn’t about being perfect. It’s about re-living the greatness. It’s about talking again about the careers of Hogs from the recent past and, in some cases, the not-so-recent past.

We have reached the finale of the Auburn Tigers‘ all-time roster series. After laying out the offense and defense, we focus on the special teams and the coaching staff.

There are plenty of names to consider on the Plains for this group and it was even difficult to narrow it down to just one staff. Check out our listing to see if you agree or disagree with the legends that we named to this group.

Rutgers football all-time roster: Coaches, kickers and specialists

See which coaching and special teams legends made the cut in our all-time Rutgers football roster.

When Greg Schiano arrived at Rutgers football ahead of the 2001 season, he made it a point of emphasis to make the special teams unit elite.

Rutgers quickly became a top-tier special teams unit, highlighted by speed (often from Florida) and with specialists who would go on to play in the NFL.

The role of special teams was huge for Rutgers then and now with Schiano’s return, it is becoming a key facet once again.

A look at the top special teams players that have ever put on the Rutgers uniform. Almost everyone on the list went on to play professional football.

And make sure to regularly check-in with RutgersWire for up-to-date news and information about Rutgers football including recruiting!

Florida football all-time roster: Coaches, kickers and specialists

See which coaching and special teams legends made the cut in our all-time Florida Gators football roster.

We already presented our starting lineups along with our second team selections for the all-time greatest Florida football team on both offense and defense, which leaves the glue that holds the two together remaining: special teams and the coaching staff.

While it is often difficult to rank coaches based simply on the results on the field, and with the small sample sizes that special teams present, there are still coaches and players that stand out from the rest. Sometimes they benefitted from a cohort of exceptional talent while others seemingly found a way to make their name known, but at the end of the day, they were difference-makers for the Orange and Blue.

Take a look below at the starting lineup along with the backups for our all-time greatest Gators on special teams along with the best that Florida has had to offer on the sidelines.

Ahead of the 2022 season, Vols Wire selected Tennessee’s all-time football roster. Below are the Vols’ all-time coaches, kickers and specialists throughout its program history.

The Vols have won six national championships in 1938, 1940, 1950, 1951, 1967 and 1998 throughout its history. Tennessee has appeared in 54 bowl games all time.

Penn State football all-time roster: Coaches, kickers and specialists

See which coaching and special teams legends made the cut in our all-time Penn State football roster.

After deliberating over who should make the Penn State all-time offense and all-time defense, it was time to make some easy decisions when it came to putting together the all-time coaching staff. Head coach? That’s a ridiculously easy call with one of college football’s all-time greats patrolling the sidelines for as long as Joe Paterno did.

But some difficult decisions did have to be made when it was time to form the all-time special teams roster. You may not have realized it at first, but Penn State has a pretty solid history of placekickers, and some very notable names managed to miss the cut after reviewing the all-time school records. Robbie Gould, Brett Conway, and Matt Bahr all missing the two-deep all-time kicker position should tell you Penn State has some stiff competition at the position.

Oregon football all-time roster: Coaches, kickers and specialists

See which coaching and special teams legends made the cut in our all-time Oregon football roster.

The Oregon Ducks have seen a lot of coaches come through the program in the past couple of decades. After the long-held tenures of guys like Len Casanova, Rich Brooks, and Mike Bellotti, the past decade has seen a total of five guys take the top spot on the organizational chart in Eugene.

That means there have been a lot of assistants to come through the building as well.

To continue our series of the all-time greatest teams in Oregon history, we take a look at some of the best head coaches and assistant coaches in Ducks’ history. Before we get to that, though, let’s take a quick look at some of the best specialists in school history as well.

USC football all-time roster: Coaches, kickers and specialists

If you are choosing the two best #USC football coaches of all time, you have to leave one of Howard Jones, John McKay, and Pete Carroll out. See who made the cut.

When compiling an all-time list, one of the harsh realities of such a project is that some names will be left off the list, unless it is especially long and can accommodate everyone. In this edition of the all-time USC football roster, there are a few notes worth making about inclusions and exclusions.

First, an inclusion: Reggie Bush was able to make this roster even though — with only two running backs allowed on the roster — he got excluded from his primary position. We had to put Charles White and O.J. Simpson on the two-deep at running back. It doesn’t mean Reggie Bush wasn’t great — of course he was! — but that White and O.J. were even greater.

Bush on special teams gives him a rightful place on this Trojans Wire roster while honoring the distribution of recognition to various positions on a football team.

Next, the exclusions: Hudson Houck is a legendary offensive line coach, one of the greatest to ever teach offensive line play. The member of John Robinson’s elite USC coaching staffs in the late 1970s (which also had Norv Turner and Paul Hackett, among others) is an all-time-great USC assistant coach. However, the two on this list were even greater and contain more importance in the larger story of USC athletics.

Finally, with only two head coaches making the cut, we obviously had to leave two iconic USC head coaches off the list. If only two can make the cut, that means two of these four legends — Howard Jones, John McKay, John Robinson, and Pete Carroll — have to be excluded.

These are the tough decisions we had to make. Enjoy this list of elite USC coaches (two head coaches, two assistants) and special-teams stars (three punters and kickers apiece, two punt returners, two kickoff returners).

Colorado football all-time roster: Coaches, kickers and specialists

See which coaching and special teams legends made the cut in our all-time Colorado Buffaloes football roster.

In the history of Buffaloes football, there’s little disagreement about who Colorado’s greatest head coach of all time is — his national success should be enough to end most debates.

Debating the impact of assistant coaches, however, is a more subjective task. The Buffs have enjoyed many great assistant coaches, some of whom later became head honcho at either Colorado or elsewhere.

The final installment of our all-time roster series also looks at kickers and specialists. Boulder’s altitude makes for a kicker’s paradise and the Buffs have had a few placekickers and punters put up impressive numbers.

Enjoy our picks for the program’s greatest ever and as always, let us know your thoughts.
