The Elam Ending is coming to the NBA G League this year, which could mean it’ll reach the NBA soon

We might need to get used to the Elam Ending.

Are you tired of watching basketball teams play the clock instead of the game? Sick of watching teams build big leads and then squander them away with terrible offensive possessions in an attempt to drain the clock and escape safely with a win?

Well, then you’ll love the Elam Ending — a format in which basketball games ditch the game clock during the fourth quarter and instead play to a target score.

It’s coming to the NBA G League:

“Beginning in 2022-23, games that advance to overtime will be determined by a Final Target Score.  The winner of an overtime game during the season will be the first team to reach or surpass the Final Target Score, which will be the tied score after four quarters plus seven.  For example, if the teams are tied at 100-100, the Final Target Score would be 107.  Overtime will be untimed and games will end when a team makes a basket or free throw to reach or surpass the Final Target Score.”

The Elam Ending is far from new. It was first introduced in the TBT back in 2017 and became most popular when it made its way to the NBA All-Star Game in 2020.

We’ve seen the NBA take the “Coach’s Challenge and the 14 Second Shot Clock Reset on offensive rebounds” straight from the G League and eventually implement them into their league. So, don’t be surprised if the Elam Ending makes its way to the Association at some point.

The good and bad of Twitter’s new edit button, explained

Twitter’s edit button, how it works and why it’s so polarizing all in one place

Welp, folks. Many of you have asked for it and, now, it seems it may finally be coming.

Twitter is officially moving forward with testing an edit button feature. We’ve known for a while they’ve been working on this for a while now, but it seems they’re actually starting to implement it a bit.

On Friday, the official Twitter account of…Twitter sent out a post letting users know that if they see a tweet out there that has been edited they should not be alarmed. It is not fake.

It’s just part of an edit button test they’re doing with some users.

Of course, after Twitter twote this (I’m making that a word today), people went into a frenzy. How would it work? How chaotic would this be? What can we edit? What can’t we edit?

Fortunately for us, some of the answers are out there. So let’s dive into what they are as well as the general good and bad that comes with an edit button.

Notre Dame football all-time roster: Coaches, kickers and specialists

See which coaching and special teams legends made the cut in our all-time Notre Dame football roster.

We’ve gone through the best offensive players and best defensive players in the history of Notre Dame football, and now it’s time to complete the all-time team by adding in the special teams units as well as the coaching staff.

I will say in putting together this list or all-time team, the difficulty in accounting for players that starred before World War II and comparing them to the stars of more recent vintage was incredibly difficult.  I tried to pay homage to enough of the past while making it clear that it’s simply just a tough task.

With that in mind, the special teams and coaching staff are listed below to complete the roster.

How do you decide an all-time head coach for Notre Dame?  Let’s just say the coaching staff is full of guys who would be the head coach in plenty of other places.

As always, be sure to check out Fighting Irish Wire for all things Notre Dame football.

Michigan State football all-time roster: Coaches, kickers and specialists

See which coaching and special teams legends made the cut in our all-time Michigan State football roster.

So far, we have compiled the greatest Michigan State football roster of all-time, starting with the offense and defense, including both starters and backups.

However, there is another group we still need to address, and it’s a few categories that MSU has an extremely rich history with, and that is the coaches, kickers, and specialists.

Oklahoma football all-time roster: Coaches, kickers and specialists

When all things are equal on the offensive and defensive sides of the football, often the difference can be found on special teams or on the sidelines.

Especially in college football where development is the difference in recruiting class success, coaching can make all the difference. The Oklahoma Sooners have been fortunate to have some of the best coaches to grace the sidelines of college football.

Four former head coaches (with lengthy tenures) are in the college football hall of fame. And several more had huge impacts on the great teams of the past.

Georgia football all-time roster: Coaches, kickers and specialists

Now that we’ve given you our all-time Georgia offensive and defensive depth chart, the final stop includes special teamers and coaches. And Georgia’s had some legendary ones.

From starting kicker Kevin Butler, to return specialist Brandon Boykin and to offensive line coach Sam Pittman, this final roster is loaded with strong legs, great athleticism, and masterful minds.

I was going to pick just one head coach, but given what Kirby Smart has done at Georgia in such a short amount of time, it would be an insult to leave him off the list. Though he’s not the “starting head coach” on this list, he very well may wind up as one of the greatest in the history of the sport by the time he retires.

Wisconsin football all-time roster: Coaches, kickers and specialists

We selected Wisconsin’s all-time special teams unit and coaching staff.

We close out the Wisconsin all-time roster series with a look at the special team’s stars and all-time coaching staff.

The final piece of the roster is highlighted by a current Badger coach landing on it in two separate spots. Legendary program changer Barry Alvarez not only found himself as the head coach on our all-time team, but some of his assistants also made the final cut.

Thinking back to all-time returners, David Gilreath’s return against Ohio State helped cement his place on the list. Without any other spoilers, here is a look at Wisconsin’s all-time special teams unit and coaching staff.

Iowa football all-time roster: Coaches, kickers and specialists

The Iowa Hawkeyes have a rich history with some of the game’s titans suiting up in the black and gold. Hawkeyes Wire is taking a look back at Iowa’s finest offensive playmakers, defensive standouts, specialists and coaches from its entire history.

After taking a look at the Hawkeyes’ all-time offensive and defensive teams, it’s now time to turn our attention the all-time specialists and coaches in Iowa history.

Specialists can change a game in an instant with a game-breaking return or a punt that pins an opponent deep or flips field position. Of course, the best assistant coaches help programs innovate offensively and defensively and keep the talent pipelines rolling.

The importance of a head coach can’t be overstated. The lifeblood and foundation of a program is set by the head coach. Iowa has had plenty of great options in terms of specialists, assistant coaches and head coaches.

Let’s take a look at the Hawkeyes’ all-time specialists and coaches.

Michigan football all-time roster: Coaches, kickers and specialists

See which coaching and special teams legends made the cut in our all-time Michigan football roster.

Michigan football is arguably the most storied program in all of college football.

The Wolverines have not only incredible tradition, but were an integral part of college football’s past, along with its present. From the winged helmets, inventing college football’s ‘platoon’ system (separate players playing offense and defense), touching the banner, and being the all-time wins leader, there’s a lot to like about the maize and blue. But what about those who actually wore the uniforms? Who were the best?

That’s a loaded question, of course. We came up with Michigan’s all-time roster, not necessarily deciding who had the best career while they were in Ann Arbor, but who is the overall best (meaning, to some degree, we’re factoring in NFL production).

Here are the best coaches and specialists in our opinion to ever come through Ann Arbor.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have a long and storied history of Hall of Fame coaches and players.

Over the years the Huskers have had numerous Hall of Fame Head Coaches with a record of winning national championships and special teams contributors with a cabinet filled with awards.

Each individual on this list, no matter how well known or unknown, played a significant role in building the Nebraska Football tradition and leaving behind a powerful legacy in the college football world.
