It’s finally here, hockey fans. The 2022-23 NHL season has officially begun!

After a long summer away, the NHL has finally returned. A lot has changed for many of the teams across the league, from big free agent signings to unexpected late-night trades that shook things up. If you’re looking for the best teams to watch or what burning question each team will need to answer, we’ve got you covered. Now, however, it’s time to predict how we at ForTheWin see how the upcoming hockey season plays out.

Which teams will finish at the top of their divisions? Who will win the Stanley Cup? How about the coveted NHL awards? To answer these questions — and more! — I’ve asked ForTheWin writers Blake Schuster and Charles Curtis to join me in making our annual NHL season predictions.

After a long summer, the 2022-23 NHL season is set to begin on October 7 with a European double header before the rest of the calendar begins in North America on October 11, which you can watch on ESPN+. It’s time to stretch those legs, hockey fans, because the upcoming NHL season is surely going to be a doozy.

As of now, every NHL team’s record has been set back to 0-0-0. The Colorado Avalanche are your Stanley Cup champions after an incredible final last summer, but all bets are off for the 2022-23 season. To get ready for the upcoming hockey season, let’s take a look at one big question facing all 32 NHL teams as a new year begins.

Sixers 3 goals: Joel Embiid has to be extraordinary again in 2023

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid has to be extraordinary again to lead the way in the 2022-23 season.

In this continuing series, Sixers Wire looks at the 20 players, per Sportrac, that comprise the Philadelphia 76ers roster — 18 under contract and the two players on two-way deals — and gives each three goals for the 2022-23 season.

The new season begins on Oct. 18 and training camp is underway to prepare for the season. Now is the time to begin previewing the new season of adventure that is Sixers basketball. Philadelphia will have to trim a few players because the active roster limit is 15.

This edition focuses on Joel Embiid who will have to somehow take his game to another level in the 2022-23 season. It will be tough to top what he did in the previous season when he led the league in scoring at 30.6 points per game, but in order to win a title, he will have to be even greater.

The Beard played 21 games for Philadelphia after the blockbuster midseason trade and he averaged 21 points, 10.5 assists and 7.1 rebounds per game, but his efficiency was way down as the hamstring injury bothered him throughout the end of the season.

Here are three members of the Philadelphia 76ers with the most to prove in the upcoming 2022-23 season.

For the Philadelphia 76ers to have the success they believe they can in a tough Eastern Conference, they will need certain players to step up.

Of course, the Sixers will rely on Joel Embiid to drive this team’s championship chase. The big fella is arguably the best big man in the league, and his health and play will ultimately determine how far the Sixers go in the 2023 playoffs.

Beyond Embiid, three players stand out as having the most to prove this season. These three will be considered X-factors as the Sixers move forward.
