Zack Moss

It was bound to get brought up, so let’s get it out of the way early. The rookie running back fumbled the ball right outside his own end zone, giving the ball back to the 49ers inside the 5-yard line. Any fumble is bad, but the timing of his fumble couldn’t have been any worse. The Bills defense just made a great stand on fourth-and-goal, and then they need to right back onto the field.

Outside of the fumble, it wasn’t a great game from Moss. He had just three carries for 9 yards, and caught just one pass. That’s because he was essentially benched after dropping the ball, as well. Not a great game from the rook.

Taron Johnson

The Bills secondary had a mixed bag. Micah Hyde and Tre’Davious White had great games, while Taron Johnson had a very poor game. Johnson was caught flat-footed on Kyle Juszczyk’s touchdown that could have brought the 49ers back into the game.

Outside of the touchdown, Johnson looked poor in coverage throughout, getting exposed by decent route runners. While this didn’t affect the overall outcome of the game, it can down the stretch against teams like the Steelers and Dolphins.

Levi Wallace

Speaking of a mixed bag, Wallace didn’t have a great game, either. He started off with a pass interference call that prevented a San Francisco three-and-out. Then throughout the game, he was getting outmuscled by receiver Brandon Aiyuk, which kept drives alive for the 49ers. His biggest blunder came when Aiyuk beat him to put San Francisco in the red zone.
