Steph Curry shares thoughts on Klay Thompson leaving Warriors

Steph Curry has broken his silence on Klay Thompson’s exit from the Golden State Warriors.

Klay Thompson’s 13-year tenure with the Golden State Warriors has ended. Following a sign-and-trade deal, he will now be suiting up for the Dallas Mavericks. Thompson will now be spacing the floor for Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving following their run to the 2024 NBA Finals.

During a recent interview with Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports, Steph Curry admitted that losing his backcourt partner still ‘hasn’t sunk in.’ The duo helped lead the Warriors to four championships and were one of the most dominant guard duos in league history. Nevertheless, they will now be facing off multiple times per season.

“Not having Klay, man, it still hasn’t really sunk in,” Curry said. “Just because you’ve been doing it for 13 years together.”

Curry is currently away with Team USA, preparing for the Paris Olympics. This will be the first time Curry has competed for an Olympic gold medal in his career. When he returns to the Bay Area later this summer, he will be surrounded by multiple new teammates. Buddy Hield is the player tasked with plugging the perimeter shooting gap left behind by Thompson.

Golden State recently missed out on a potential trade for Paul George. Nevertheless, they have made a flurry of transactions to help improve a team that struggled throughout last season. Curry will now be tasked with leading the franchise back into the playoffs without the need for the play-in tournament. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.
