The Pittsburgh Steelers and all 32 NFL teams will trim their rosters to 53 by the end of business on Tuesday, but the work is far from over. The next step for many is to put in waiver-wire claims for young players that other teams have released.
Teams have until Noon ET on Wednesday to put in a waiver claim on any player who qualifies. A qualifying player is any player with less than four accrued NFL seasons. They must all go through waivers. Any other player may be signed immediately and isn’t subject to waivers.
The Steelers are currently No. 20 on the waiver priority. That means any player they would put a claim in for would have to be passed up by all 19 teams ahead of them.
