Former Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett would be wise to sign short-term leases for his housing arrangements. That’s because he continues to chase the NFL dream but keeps ending up on the wrong side of roster moves. The latest involves the Pittsburgh Steelers deciding to cut bait for now.
It all got started with the New Orleans Saints. They offered Barrett his first free-agent contract after he went undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft. They proceeded to make move after move of signing, releasing, and re-signing the former Buckeye star. There were so many transactions that it became an exercise in advanced mathematics to keep up with it all.
He was finally picked up by the Seattle Seahawks in August of 2019 after a dizzying merry-go-round in the Big Easy, only to find his way back to N’Awlins in September. He was then picked up by Pittsburgh in December, and released on August 2 as rosters begin to shape up for the upcoming NFL season.
Roster moves continued for the @steelers today and @_BigBen7 was throwing the football.
All that and more in the first training camp blog of the season.

Through it all, Barrett has been nothing short of professional and hard-working. That’s one reason why the Saints continued to add him to the roster. Now, he’s out in the cold again, and hopefully there’s a team out there that’s willing to give him another shot.
Your move Saints.
