Steelers LB T.J. Watt tied Michael Strahan’s sack record at 22.5 in win over Ravens

T.J. Watt almost passed Michael Strahan for the sack record.

So close for Steelers All-Pro pass rusher T.J. Watt. Watt came just short of breaking Michael Strahan’s sack record — a whopping 22.5 sacks set back in 2001 — in the Steelers’ overtime win against the Ravens.

Watt needed two sacks to pass Strahan for the most all time, but tying for the lead is still an incredible accomplishment in its own right. Watt led the NFL in sacks for the second season in a row and now has set himself on a career trajectory headed towards the Hall of Fame.

Watt’s moment was special enough that his big brother had to chime in with a congratulations on Twitter.

Watt may not have gotten the record this year, but he’s going to have plenty of chances to get that record in the coming years.
