Texas players, coaches, media members and fans were gushing over Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian’s game plan in the national championship against Ohio State.
It brought an elevated sense of excitement to those involved in the Texas football program. Sarkisian was named the head coach at the University of Texas on Jan. 2 and his introductory press conference in Austin is scheduled for Tuesday at 4 p.m. CST.
His offense was dominant and precise on college football’s biggest stage, defeating the Buckeyes 52-24 while scoring 28 of those points in the second quarter. Sarkisian was creatively dialing up plays to consistently get the ball in the hands of his most explosive playmakers.
It’s something that Texas fans longed for under former head coach Tom Herman. It should finally happen with Sarkisian at the helm, as he confirmed to the American-Statesman that he will be calling the plays at Texas for the foreseeable future.
At this point, how can you not be excited about Sarkisian’s potential at Texas? He’s inheriting the fifth-most talented roster in the country with a star running back in the backfield.
