With the NBA in an indefinite hiatus due to COVID-19, we continue our day-by-day look back at the history of the Philadelphia 76ers. We continue down our path into Sixers history every day as we look to fill the void left by the absence of basketball.
There were not many good nights during The Process, but on one night in Boston, the 76ers showed up and they earned their second win in less than a week. They leaned on rookie Michael Carter-Williams and young Henry Sims to get the job done against their rivals.

The Sixers had just ended a nasty 26-game losing streak and they were looking to build off of that win. So, why not try it with a matchup with the rival Celtics? While both teams were not having any type of success in the 2013-14 season, Boston at least still had Rajon Rondo and Jeff Green as they looked to move into a new era.
Instead of Rondo and Green having big games, it was Carter-Williams scoring 24 points, six rebounds, and six assists while Sims had 24 points and nine rebounds as Philadelphia capitalized on 22 Boston turnovers to win it 111-102. Thaddeus Young and Elliot Williams added 15 points each in the win.
Philadelphia won for the second time in four games and it had coach Brett Brown ecstatic as he told reporters:
“We’re on a roll!” Philadelphia coach Brett Brown with a smile. “I’m just so proud of their ability to play as a team and continue to do the right thing and have a true desire to get better.”
The win gave Philadelphia 17 on the season and they would earn two more on the season to finish at 19-63. Carter-Williams ended up averaging 16.7 points, 6.3 assists, and 6.2 rebounds on his way to winning Rookie of the Year. That would be the last real big moment for him in Philadelphia before he was sent to the Milwaukee Bucks at the deadline of his sophomore season. [lawrence-related id=28828,28817,28799]
