The Philadelphia 76ers are not done dealing quite yet. They made a big move to acquire Buddy Hield from the Indiana Pacers, but seem to be setting themselves up for future moves.
The Sixers sent Danuel House Jr. and their 2024 second-round pick via the New York Knicks to the Detroit Pistons in a deal. House averaged 4.2 points and 1.7 rebounds while shooting 30% in 34 games with four starts for the Sixers this season. The Sixers are getting a top-55 protected second-round pick in 2028 from Detroit.
The deal moves Philadelphia below the luxury tax threshold, enabling it to go out and sign someone such as Kyle Lowry should he be bought out by the Charlotte Hornets after the deadline. They create a $4.3 million traded player exception with this deal.

House will look for a fresh start with another team. Shams Charania of The Athletic reported Thursday afternoon that the Pistons had already waived House.
If Philadelphia were to get somebody like Lowry, he would be a big get: another ballhandler to help the team get into its sets offensively.
