Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger threw five touchdowns in the first half against UTEP on Saturday.
Running back Roschon Johnson recorded a rushing touchdown as well, but Ehlinger’s five touchdown passes went to five different players.
Ehlinger’s 429 passing yards in the first half are the most in Texas history.
The most unexpected touchdown reception of the night happened to come at the end of the first half to walk-on wide receiver Kai Money.

Money was not listed on the initial depth chart heading into the season opener for the Longhorns.
Money was a former quarterback at Saint Joseph Academy in Brownsville, Texas, prior to walking on at the University of Texas.
The emotion and excitement on the sideline after Money’s touchdown reception was notable. He’s clearly worked hard and proved his worth to be in that moment.
Texas is distributing the ball to several new faces. Wide receiver Joshua Moore was suspended last season after flashing impressive signs of potential as a true freshman. Both transfer wide receivers, Brenden Schooler and Tarik Black, have each showcased their talents tonight.
Expect the unexpected appears to be the mantra for this season.
