Shams: Nets star Ben Simmons has been cleared for 3-on-3 basketball

Reports indicate that Brooklyn Nets star guard Ben Simmons is cleared for 3-on-3 basketball and is nearly ready for 5-on-5.

While a lot of attention is on Brooklyn Nets disgruntled star Kevin Durant, it’s important for fans to remember that coming off of injury is the crafty and talented playmaking forward Ben Simmons.

Shams Charania of The Athletic is reporting that Simmons has officially been cleared for 3-on-3 basketball following his surgery earlier this year:

Simmons has been cleared for three-on-three basketball activities following back surgery in May, and he is on track to be cleared for full five-on-five activities in the coming weeks, league sources say. The Nets and Simmons expect him to be ready for training camp in late September.

Since joining the Nets, Simmons has yet to play a single minute. Some rumors that Simmons acted fake towards some teammates during the playoffs were disproven, which, in all likelihood, cleared the air in the locker room.

Teammate Seth Curry has voiced his support for the former All-Star as he talked about the Australian while touring the country.
