Shai Gilgeous-Alexander speaks about doubters and the MVP race.

Several media figures and talking heads like Shannon Sharpe have voiced their doubts about the Thunder’s chances to contend this year, even claiming they are the weakest No.1 seed in the league. Former Kentucky Wildcats star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander isn’t too worried about it.

The Oklahoma City Thunder all-star brushes off narratives that OKC is the weakest No. 1 seed. He had this to say about the unfair narratives thrown against OKC.

We don’t worry about it. I heard that all year. It’s not gonna change. We’re still young, we’ll probably be young for another 4/5 years. We don’t worry about it. We focus on what goes on in these four walls.

 

SGA finished fifth in the Most Valuable Player voting a season ago, but didn’t make the playoffs. That is the only thing that matters to the former Kentucky Wildcat guard this season and beyond.

He had this to say about the MVP voting this year:

I hope I get it, yes. I think all the guys are deserving, all have their case. Whatever happens, happens. But whoever gets it is deserving for sure.
