Sega unveils Sonic Frontiers DLC roadmap for 2023

Team Sonic has a lot in store for Sonic Frontiers DLC in the coming year, including new modes and more

Sega announced a Sonic Frontiers DLC roadmap stretching through 2023 with promises to keep the open-world game fresh and active for at least the next 12 months. The development team made the announcement on Twitter and shared a graphic showcasing what to expect in each wave of updates, though none of the planned updates has a release date or time frame yet.

On Dec. 21, 2022, Sega will also add a Holiday Cheer suit – a red with white fur trim affair – for Sonic as a free update.

The first wave will introduce Juke Box and Photo modes, handy if you fancy taking a few snapshots of Sonic in his brave new world. Also included is a new challenge mode. Sega didn’t elaborate on what to expect from that, but presumably, it’ll include a set of more difficult challenges suitable for those who have reached the end of the game.

Wave two adds an Open Zone challenge and more Kocos, and it celebrates Sonic’s birthday in some as-yet-unspecified fashion. Wave three seems to promise the most significant updates, promising new playable characters and a new story in that round of updates.

Sega imposed that part of the roadmap on an image of Knuckles, Tails, and Amy – Sonic’s formerly missing friends, so it seems safe to assume you can look forward to using their unique talents in Frontiers toward the end of 2023, something to tide you over until Sonic the Hedgehog 3 lands in theaters the following year.

Sega will release all the roadmap content for free on consoles and PC.
