Going into training camp last summer, Corey Coleman was on track to compete for the New York Giants’ No. 3 wide receiver role. Then, just as training camp began, Coleman went down with a torn ACL.
Coleman never left the Giants’ radar, who signed him back to undisclosed one-year deal on March 23. Whether or not he’ll be competing for that No. 3 job or not now that Darius Slayton emerged as a force in the passing game is still to be determined.
Coleman is working hard to get himself back to where he was a year ago.

Coleman was the 15th overall selection in the 2015 NFL Draft out of Baylor by the Cleveland Browns but a series of setbacks have derailed his career. He’s still a viable talent that the Giants are hoping will finally blossom as a 25-year-old young veteran.
Coleman had been predominantly used as a returner on special teams after the Giants signed him in October of 2018. He returned 23 kickoffs for 598 yards (a 26.0 average) with a long of 51.
Given the striation to detail and onus on special teams, especially now that Joe Judge is the head coach, Coleman is likely to be in the mix to resume his role as a returner.
