Seahawks running back Chris Carson (hip) does not need surgery

Seattle Seahawks running back Chris Carson does not need surgery on his hip, and is expected back and 100 percent healthy by training camp.

The Seattle Seahawks got some good news for the 2020 season on Wednesday when coach Pete Carroll reported that star running back Chris Carson will not need surgery on his hip, and he shouldn’t have any problem reporting to training camp next summer.

“It’s still quite an extensive recovery, but he has no surgery and he doesn’t have to undergo any of those issues and he was really thrilled about that,” Carroll said on Wednesday. “So the recovery will be as quick as possible. He was really of good attitude about it. He’s a great worker we won’t have any problem expecting him to come back.”

Carson suffered the injury in Week 16’s loss to the Cardinals. His injury coincided with C.J. Prosise’s broken arm, and with Rashaad Penny (ACL) already on the shelf, Seattle turned to the free agent market to sign veterans Marshawn Lynch and Robert Turbin.

Carson finished the 2019 season with career highs in carries (278) yards (1,230) as well as seven touchdowns. He also took on a bigger role in the receiving game, hauling in 37 receptions for 266 yards and another two scores.

His presence was a crucial part of Seattle’s success in 2019, and he will be a big part of their team again in 2020 after he gets healthy.
