According to a report by Tom Pelissero at NFL Network, the Seattle Seahawks are releasing safeties Jamal Adams and Quandre Diggs. The moves will save the team some $27.5 million in cap space for the 2024 season. They will also come with a couple of sizable dead cap charges.

Due to injuries and struggles on the field after the 2020 season, cutting Adams had been anticipated for a long time. Meanwhile, Diggs had performed much better compared to Adams but was still coming off a poor 2023 campaign. His contract also made him a good candidate to be a salary cap casualty this year.

Looking ahead, the top of Seattle’s safety depth chart should have Pro Bowler Julian Love slated to start along with second-year safety Jerrick Reed II, who was a special teams standout as a rookie but didn’t see much time on defense.
