Seahawks interested in free agent EDGE Randy Gregory

Seahawks interested in free agent EDGE Randy Gregory

In today’s NFL, there is no such thing as too many options when it comes to finding those who can rush the passer. While the Seattle Seahawks were not ineffective at this department, they have long been in search of a truly lethal pass rush like they had during the prime Legion of Boom days.

This has led Seattle to seeking out help wherever they can find it, and it seems as if there is a target in mind: defensive end Randy Gregory.

Originally a second round pick by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2015 NFL draft, Gregory has had a bit of a tumultuous career. Plagued by injuries and repeated substance abuse suspensions from the league, Gregory has thus far not developed into a game changer.

However, given his connections to current Seahawks defensive coordinator, perhaps he might have new life in the Emerald City.

After five years in Dallas, Gregory went to spend nearly two in Denver with the Broncos. But midway through the 2023 season, Gregory was traded to the San Francisco 49ers where he recorded five total tackles during their ill-fated Super Bowl run.

No one is under the impression Gregory will transform the Seattle pass rush. But he could be a good depth option and give some veteran presense to a defense rapidly getting younger.
