Victor Wembanyama was absolutely incredible in his rookie season with the San Antonio Spurs. He was one of the best defensive players in the league, and his offense came along, too. However, if the Spurs want to reach their peak, they need to make roster additions this summer. Jacob Douglas of Pounding the Rock believes three-point shooting is one of their biggest needs.
“As Wembanyama becomes a dominant presence inside, the Spurs need shooters who can space the floor around him,” Douglas wrote. “Double teams are always going to come the big man’s way. Wemby is a good passer who should be able to punish teams by spraying out to shooters. It’s imperative the Spurs prioritize acquiring shooters this offseason.”
The Spurs will have multiple opportunities to add shooters this summer, including in free agency, in the draft, and on the trade market.
If they can get guys who can reliably space the floor for Wmebanyama, their offense could reach a whole new level.
