Ohio State cornerback Ryan Watts has entered the transfer portal. The move was announced on Watts’ Twitter account Friday, making him the fourth OSU player to enter their name into the portal since the end of the regular season.
Watts was to enter his third season, but there have been a lot of changes and a slew of competition on the back-end of the defense. He started the season at cornerback, but as changes were made to solidify that side of the ball after some early struggles, the 6-foot, 3-inch, 205-pounder lost more and more playing time.
It’ll be interesting to see what happens now at the cornerback position. Denzel Burke no doubt will have one of the positions locked up, but the competition at the other cornerback spot will be open. It’s doubtful Sevyn Banks turns pro after the lack of playing time he had in 2021, but we’ll have to wait for him and what type of decision Cameron Brown makes.
Other than that, Lejond Cavazos, Jordan Hancock, Jakailin Johnson, as well as some true freshmen will be in the mix.

We of course, as always, wish Watts well wherever he lands.
