COVID-19, better known as coronavirus, has, to some extent, impacted almost everyone in the United State, and the Ohio State football program is no exception.
With the NBA, NHL, MLB, and even March Madness canceled, the virus is sweeping through America and causing widespread impact.
One problem that’s plaguing entertainment industries is that no one truly has an idea of when this thing will end. Some say it could be weeks and other reports are months.
For Ohio State’s now-second-year head coach Ryan Day, he’s not going to try to predict the future, but rather, he’s going to prepare for the reality of the present and focus on any changes made at that time.
“For me to comment on it, I would just be ignorant to really what’s real and what isn’t. There are so many scenarios out there, you can go down a lot of rabbit holes. Until we know for sure, I feel like we’re kind of wasting energy because we don’t know. Certainly it’s a concern, and that would be awful. But trying not to get too far down that road and just trying to do a good job with today,” Day told Letterman Row’s Austin Ward.
“I know that sounds cliché, but until we start to know more — which I’m hoping we do at least over the next two or three weeks at least to forecast it out — it’s hard to get too far ahead of ourselves,” he continued.
With many recruits and their respective future walking a thin-line provided by the NCAA, the reality is that, like Day noted, there are many scenarios, both good and bad.
For now, let’s focus on the present and making sure each of us is doing our part to calm the spread, and when it’s time to resume activities, we’ll all be prepared for some intense Ohio State football.
Stay safe, hopeful, and be there for each other.
