“Everyone has their opinion,” said Ohio State head coach Ryan Day while appearing on a segment with the Big Noon crew of FOX College Football.
Day was asked to respond to the criticism the Buckeyes have received from all corners of the college football world it seems in regards to his team having only played five games in 2020. Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney was critical of OSU’s resume while appearing on radio last week, and other media members and message boards have also piled on.
This all happened after the Big Ten voted to change its minimum six-game policy for the conference championship game policy, sending Ohio State to Indianapolis rather than one-loss Indiana that lost to the Buckeyes on November 21.
And, as things head down to the home stretch for the regular season, the College Football Playoff Committee has continued to hold high regard for the Buckeyes, having them currently in the field as the No. 4 team in the country. To say that many don’t like it, would be an understatement.

Day went on to express his confidence in what this year’s Ohio State team can do on the field, and how it has fought through so much uncertainty in 2020.
âWe have a very, very talented team,â Day said. âThis team’s done everything we’ve asked them to do right from the get-go. They’ve been through a lot of stuff. They’ve been through a point where they canceled the season on them, and they fought to get it back. They’ve had games canceled, rivalry games canceled, but they just keep coming back and they keep getting stronger. I think you saw the team last week, what we’re capable of. We’re still not really clean yet, but we’re very, very talented, we have a lot of opportunity moving forward to show America how good we are” … âAll we really wanted was an opportunity to go play for the championship and show everybody what we’re made of. I know this team’s hungry.â
Ohio State is set to take on Northwestern in the Big Ten Championship Game this Saturday at Noon.
