Rutgers women’s basketball continues its slide at Ohio State

Rutgers women’s basketball lost at Ohio State.

On Thursday night, Rutgers women’s basketball continued to struggle in Big Ten play. They dropped their seventh straight game and had no answer for Ohio State as the Buckeyes rolled to a 90-55 win. In their latest victory, Ohio State got offense from various sources.

While four Ohio State players scored at least 10 points, Madison Greene set the tone offensively. The Pickingerton native led the Buckeyes in scoring with 16 points while adding four rebounds to her resume. It marked the first time this season that she scored more than six points.

 

On a night when Rutgers was outplayed, Destiny Adams was a bright spot. The New Jersey native scored 18 points and hauled in seven rebounds. She was the only Rutgers player that scored more than 10 points.

In this matchup, Rutgers put themselves in an early hole with a dreadful start. At the end of the first half, the Buckeyes had a 55-21 lead. During the second half, their dominance continued with a 17-2 run in the third quarter.

Additionally, Ohio State was deadly from the three-point range. The Buckeyes made 11 three-pointers and Rutgers made two. While Thursday night did not go as planned, Rutgers will have to move on quickly. They have one day off before facing Penn State on Saturday.
