Rutgers football recruiting: Scarlet Knights offer rising freshman Preston Carey

Preston Carey gets an offer from Rutgers football.

One of the latest offers to go out from Rutgers football came over the weekend. Preston Carey, who recently completed eighth grade, got an offer from the Scarlet Knights.

Carey is the latest offer from Rutgers to a Long Island prospect.

The class of 2025 offensive lineman, a 16-year-old, is an impressive 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds. He is a physically developed athlete who looks like he could handle snaps in the Big Ten right now.

Also over the weekend, Carey was named the Day 2 MVP at the Football University camp in New Jersey.

Rutgers has been hitting up Long Island hard this recruiting cycle and with some success. The Scarlet Knights have landed a pair of Long Island recruits for the 2023 recruiting class as three-star wide receiver Dylan Braithwaite (Holy Trinity; Hicksville, N.Y.) and defensive back Ian Strong (St Anthony’s; Long Island City, N.Y.) have both committed in June.

In addition, Rutgers is doing well class of 2024 defensive back Josiah Brown, a four-star recruit who is ranked the top player from New York in his class. Brown is a teammate of Braithwaite’s at Holy Trinity, part of a stacked team that includes class of 2024 linebacker Nick Parisi.

Carey has pulled in recent offers over the past week that includes Michigan and Georgia as well as Rutgers.
