Rutgers football recruiting: Locklan Hewlett gets his first Big Ten offer

Locklan Hewlett pulls in a Rutgers football offer this week.

Florida quarterback Locklan Hewlett was offered by Rutgers football this week. It has been a busy May for Hewlett, who rolled in multiple Power Five offers this month.

Rutgers is the latest offer for the three-star quarterback, who has received Power Five offers from Miami, Iowa State and Cincinnati over the past week. In late April, he was offered by Texas A&M.

A class of 2025 recruit, Hewlett plays for St. Augustine High School (St. Augustine, FL). He is a 6-foot-1, 175-pound prospect who is the No 36 quarterback in the nation according to 247Sports. He is a three-star recruit.

Hewlett tweeted about the offer this week, tagging Rutgers football head coach Greg Schiano and offensive coordinator Kirk Ciarrocca.

 

Last season, he completed 58.2 percent of his passes (131-for-225), throwing for over 2,000 yards. He had 23 touchdowns and six interceptions in 10 games played.

Rutgers currently has a quarterback in their 2024 recruiting class, A.J. Surace. A three-star recruit, Surace is the top-ranked quarterback in New Jersey. At the time of his commitment to Rutgers, Surace held offers that included offers from Boston College, Duke, Indiana, Michigan State, Pittsburgh and Tennessee among others.

His father, Bob Surace, is head coach at Princeton.
