We’ve come a VERY long way from the NBA fights of the 20th century, and that’s a very positive thing when you think about some of the results of those melees.
And after Rudy Gobert and Myles Turner got into it on Thursday night in the Utah Jazz loss to the Indiana Pacers, the Jazz center perfectly summed up NBA “fights” today with a quote that totally nails it.
First, let’s break down this thing: Turner blocked Gobert, Gobert appeared to pull down Turner, the two got knocked down and then they bumped heading up the court.
Then? They danced!

Here’s what Gobert said afterwards:
Rudy Gobert: "We weren't going to fight. Guys know that we aren't going to fight. In two seconds there are gonna be 20 security guys there. Guys who aren't about that life need to stop acting like they are."

Gobert: "I'm not going to fight on the basketball court. If somebody wants to fight, I'm really easy to reach."
