Ronda Rousey expected back in time for Clash at the Castle

A Wrestling Observer report claims Ronda Rousey will be back from her storyline suspension in time for Clash at the Castle in Wales.

Ronda Rousey may be suspended in WWE storylines for the moment, but don’t expect that to last too long.

Dave Meltzer reported on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that Rousey is expected to be back in time to be part of the Clash at the Castle event in Wales on Sept. 3. That upcoming stadium show will be the first in the U.K. since 1992, so it makes sense that WWE would want as many of its big draws as possible on the card (h/t to Wrestling Inc. for the transcription).

“She’s booked on the Cardiff show,” Meltzer said. “So she’s going to be unsuspended at least before [that]. I don’t know how long, but it’s not going to be a month, to put it that way, because she’s got to be back for the PPV show.”

Rousey received her fictional suspension for attacking a referee following her loss to Liv Morgan at SummerSlam this past weekend. The finish of that match saw the ref count to three as Rousey’s shoulders were pinned to the mat at the same time she was applying an armbar to Morgan. Replays showed the SmackDown Women’s Champion tapped out prior to the three count, but Morgan was declared the winner by pinfall.

Though a bit contrived, the controversy allowed Morgan to escape with her title while not making Rousey look any weaker for losing — particularly since she dominated most of the action prior to the finish. It could also be a vehicle to Rousey turning heel, something she says she’d like to do, but that’s not a certainty, as reports are circulating that WWE is still listing her as a babyface internally.

Regardless, Rousey is sure to have unfinished business with Morgan, and her suspension should conveniently be over in time for her to tackle it at Clash at the Castle in just a few weeks.
