At first glance, you may wonder if a toddler assisted in ranking this particular list of the top 10 college football helmets.
There are several classic and recognizable helmets in college football, many of which haven’t changed appearance in decades. Although this is often a debatable topic, Mike Farrell of Rivals took it to a whole new level when he tweeted out his top ten list recently. Where do we even start?

Before we discuss the out-of-place rankings of those particular 10 helmets, we must first recognize the missing pieces. It is downright criminal to not include Alabama, Penn State, or Ohio State. Florida could even raise an argument here.
Oregon coming in at No. 3 on the list is quite bold, similar to their constant juggling between uniforms. In my personal list, Oregon wouldn’t even crack the top 15.
The Longhorns are the face of Texas football, their helmet has been around since 1970 and is one of the most recognizable logos in the entire country. How is this not a top five helmet on any list?
Miami and Texas are too low, while helmets like Oregon, LSU, Georgia, and Arizona State appear to high. The top five should include Notre Dame, Miami, Texas, Florida State, and Alabama. To round out the bottom part of the list, Michigan, Penn State, USC, Ohio State, and Florida deserve recognition.
We’re all entitled to our own opinions, but sometimes less is more. Traditions are special.
