Report: Zach LaVine trade to Lakers is ‘not happening’ despite rumors

A recent report indicates that a Zach LaVine trade between the Chicago Bulls and the Los Angeles Lakers is “not happening.”

For the past few months, the Chicago Bulls have had a bunch of their players be thrown around in trade rumors, but no one more than Zach LaVine. He spent over a month on the sidelines with a foot injury but made his return at the beginning of January.

The two-time All-Star shooting guard has been connected to a bunch of teams in potential trade rumors, including the Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors. However, no potential destination has had more smoke around them than the Los Angeles Lakers when it comes to LaVine. They’ve been linked to the Bulls star on multiple occasions.

However, according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN, a LaVine trade to the Lakers is “not happening” despite all the recent rumors.

“I’m told that’s not happening,” McMenamin said on SportsCenter. “Laker fans if you’re thinking about the UCLA Bruin coming back to Los Angeles to help this team, don’t count on it. You’re looking at the Lakers surveying the market for point guard help and one guy you can look at is certainly Tyus Jones with the Washington Wizards. … Another guy you look to is Collin Sexton.”

So far this season, LaVine is averaging 20.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.0 assists while shooting 45.3% from the field and 34.9% from behind the three-point line.

His shot creation would be a big help for the Lakers, who are struggling mightily in the halfcourt. LaVine would also be getting better looks than he has in a while with LeBron James setting him up.
