There’s certainly no shortage of news regarding the Texas football program over the last two weeks.
It seems as if every day a player is either entering the transfer portal, decommitting from Texas or declaring for the NFL Draft. On Wednesday, a new update emerged when Horns247’s Chip Brown reported that junior safety Montrell Estell will be changing positions.
Morning Brew @Horns247: With #Texas junior receiver Brennan Eagles foregoing the Alamo Bowl and his senior season for the NFL Draft, #Longhorns' junior Montrell Estell is moving from safety to receiver, a team source told Horns247.https://t.co/SF1GQ2sPpv.

Estell will move to wide receiver, a position group that will potentially be without both Brennan Eagles and Tarik Black next season. Eagles officially declared for the NFL Draft on Tuesday, while Black is still weighing his options.
Brown noted that Estell will now work as an X receiver. The 6-foot-1, 196-pound playmaker is no stranger to the position. At Hooks High School, Estell earned co-offensive MVP of District 7-3A DII in 2016 when he hauled in 29 receptions for 628 yards and five touchdowns.
For defensive coordinator Chris Ash, he’s now down four safeties in a matter of weeks. Caden Sterns and Chris Brown chose begin their professional careers, Xavion Alford entered the transfer portal and Estell is changing positions.
