Report: Texas is targeting NC State director of player personnel for same role

Steve Sarkisian is targeting NC State’s Billy Glasscock as its director of player personnel according to a recent report.

Not only has Steve Sarkisian generated momentum on the recruiting trail, he’s also inching towards making a notable addition to his support staff at Texas.

Sarkisian originally targeted Tennessee’s Drew Hughes to be the next direct of player personnel at Texas after Derek Chang announced his departure from the program, but NCAA allegations surrounding Hughes ultimately forced the Longhorns to look elsewhere.

Zach Barnett of Football Scoop reported on Saturday that Sarkisian is now zeroing in on NC State’s director of player personnel Billy Glasscock to fill the same role at Texas.

Glasscock served as the director of recruiting for the Minnesota Golden Gophers prior to his role in Raleigh. He’s widely known to identify under-recruited prospects and oversees the recruiting staff and all recruiting activities at NC State.

He has helped the Wolfpack land in the top 45 of recruiting classes throughout his tenure in Raleigh. NC State landed the No. 34 overall class in 2021 according to 247Sports composite rankings.

In 2014, national recruiting analyst Tom Lemming named Glasscock as one of five national directors of recruiting operations of the year.
