Several former staff members and players from Texas are making the move out west.
Running back Keaontay Ingram and safety Xavion Alford recently chose to transfer to USC, while former defensive coordinator Todd Orlando and safeties coach Craig Naivar are currently members of the Trojan’s coaching staff.
However, none will hurt Texas more than losing director of recruiting Bryan Carrington. The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman reported on Thursday that Carrington is expected to join USC’s staff as a quality control analyst. It appears his long-term goal is to become an assistant coach.

Carrington has been well-respected by staff and players since he was hired by Tom Herman in 2017. In fact, several current Longhorn players expressed their support for Carrington on social media shortly after Herman was terminated.
He played a vital role in Texas’ three-straight top-10 recruiting classes from 2018-2020. Although newly hired head coach Steve Sarkisian is off to a hot start on the recruiting trail, Carrington’s shoes will be tough to fill.
