Report: Texas C Jake Majors expected to miss extended time this season

Jake Majors suffered a high ankle sprain against Oklahoma.

Texas center Jake Majors was only able to play a few minutes of the Red River Rivalry game last week.

Majors went down with a high ankle sprain a few minutes after kickoff against Oklahoma. Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian stated after the game that right guard Cole Hutson is the backup center, but Hutson was unavailable due to a knee injury suffered against Wyoming. Third-string center Connor Robertson had to play the majority of the game.

On Wednesday, 247Sports’ Chip Brown reported that Majors could miss extended time this season. Brown stated that high ankle sprains are tough to predict, but Majors will likely miss 6-8 weeks.

Fortunately for the Longhorns, Hutson is expected to return for Texas’ next game at Houston. With Texas on a bye this week, it should allow plenty of time for the Longhorns to adjust.
