The Alabama football carousel of assistant coaches continues to spin, as the Crimson Tide’s offensive coordinator in his second season with the team will reportedly be accepting the University of Texas head coaching position, accoring to Chip Brown of 247Sports.
Sarkisian has held other head coaching positions in the past in Washington and USC, now he will be taking his talents to the BIG12 to coach the Texas Longhorns.
The Longhorns recently parted ways with Tom Herman, after he was with the team from 2017-2020.
He also spent some time in the NFL as the Atlanta Falcons’ offensive coordinator, though it did not last long.
Sarkisian’s two recent seasons with Alabama have been very succesful, drawing attention from acorss the country as head coaching vacancies opened up. He was linked to the Auburn job, but quickly withdrew before even getting an interview.
The move, while not yet official, comes as a bit of a surprise, as he recently received a raise to $3.5 million by the Univeristy of Alabama.
The report has not yet been confirmed by Sarkisian or any staff at the University of Texas Austin.
