Report: Sixers to play out next 8 scheduled regular season games

The Philadelphia 76ers will play the next eight scheduled opponents before the playoffs begin.

The NBA is expected to officially make its return on Thursday as the Board of Governors will vote on and pass a return to play plan that will have 22 teams head to Orlando in a “bubble site” and finish up the 2019-20 season. The league has been on hiatus since March 11 due to the global coronavirus pandemic.

The plan includes all 22 teams playing eight regular-season games in an effort to properly seed the NBA Playoffs. For the Philadelphia 76ers, and the other 21 teams, the plan is to play the next eight games on their regular schedule that were already there. However, since only 22 teams are going to resume the season, if a scheduled game against one of the other eight teams is there, then they would move on to the next game.

For the Sixers, that means they would have a date with the Indiana Pacers which would have been their next scheduled game before the league hiatus. They would then face the Washington Wizards and the Toronto Raptors and so on. They do have scheduled matchups with the Atlanta Hawks and the Charlotte Hornets within those next eight games, but those matchups would be replaced with a matchup of one of the 22 teams headed to Orlando.
