Report: Patriots made trade calls for two big-name receivers

The Patriots reportedly made trade calls on these two receivers.

At least two big-name receivers remain on the New England Patriots’ radar in free agency, including Arizona Cardinals wideout DeAndre Hopkins and Denver Broncos receiver Jerry Jeudy.

Per The Athletic’s Jeff Howe, the Patriots have made trade calls on both players.

Receiver is a big need for the team after losing Jakobi Meyers to the Las Vegas Raiders on Tuesday. Meyers led the team in receiving yards last season, and his absence leaves a huge hole in a unit that struggled even before the Matt Patricia offensive catastrophe in 2022.

Hopkins would be a great get for a Patriots team that rarely signs elite receivers. Meanwhile, Jeudy would also be a significant upgrade as an outside target for quarterback Mac Jones.

Keep in mind, the Patriots also visited during Odell Beckham Jr.’s workout last week. So that could be another option on the table heading into the 2023 season.

One thing is for certain: This can’t be another year where the team snubs its nose at adding a legitimate playmaker at receiver, especially when matching up against the other elite talent in the AFC East.

The Patriots are no longer in the doormat division of the NFL.
