Report: Pacers’ Jarace Walker underwent surgery on right elbow

Walker first suffered the injury in March with Houston during the NCAA Tournament.

Indiana Pacers rookie Jarace Walker recently underwent surgery to remove loose bodies from his right elbow, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Walker injured his right elbow in March during the NCAA Tournament with Houston. He was sidelined for a brief period during the pre-draft process but was cleared to resume workouts and played in four games in the NBA Summer League.

He is expected to be ready for the start of training camp in September.

The eighth pick averaged 14.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.3 blocks on 34.3% shooting from the field with the Pacers in Las Vegas. He scored in double figures three times, including a summer league-high 20 points and nine rebounds on July 12.

Walker was named the American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year last season after averaging 11.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.3 blocks and one steal on 34.7% shooting from 3-point range. He was also a unanimous selection to the All-Freshman team.
