Report: Kenny Pickett needs surgery after Steelers get crushed by Cardinals

The Steelers will be without Kenny Pickett for the foreseeable future.

Kenny Pickett came into Sunday’s Week 13 game with ankle discomfort and exited just before halftime with a far more serious injury — one that’s being reported as requiring surgery.

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Gerry Dulac tweeted that “Pickett will have a surgical procedure Monday on his injured ankle and expected to be out 2-4 weeks.”

The injury occurred after another errant snap by center Mason Cole (who had multiple on the day). As protection broke down, Pickett saw an opportunity to score and took it. Unfortunately, he fell short of the goal line and further injured his ankle in the process.

There’s nothing official yet from the Steelers, but Mike Tomlin will address the media tomorrow to provide as little detail as possible.

Mitch Trubisky, who passed for 117 yards and a touchdown, will start Thursday versus the New England Patriots and their top-10 defense.
