The retirement of general manager Dave Gettleman has the New York Giants jumping right into their search for his replacement.
On Monday, the team requested to interview Buffalo Bills assistant general manager Joe Schoen, reports ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Schoen is one of several candidates the Giants reportedly intend to interview. We wrote this about him previously:
Joe Schoen is a member of the Buffalo Bills’ executive department and currently works as the assistant GM. He was hired in 2017 and since then, the Bills have been one of the best teams in the AFC. Last season, the Bills went as far as the AFC Championship Game, which was the deepest run the team has had in over 20 years.
Schoen learned under Brandon Beane (one of the most successful general managers in football) and would make a valuable hire for the Giants this offseason.
To be clear, Schoen is currently Brandon Beane’s assistant in Buffalo. Beane, if you recall, was Gettleman’s assistant GM in Carolina. When Gettleman was fired in Carolina, he was scooped up by the Giants while Beane was hired by Buffalo.
Schoen also began his career with the Panthers and then joined the Miami Dolphins as their director of player personnel from 2014-17.
