Free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. held a workout in Arizona this past Friday and 12 teams, including the New York Giants, attended.
Beckham sought to show teams he has fully recovered from his latest ACL injury and that was certainly the takeaway. Those who saw OBJ firsthand remarked on both his physique and the return of his explosiveness.
But even before the Giants were able to put eyes on the now healthy Beckham, they had met with his representatives at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, reports ESPN’s Jordan Raanan.
A reunion with former Giant Odell Beckham Jr. remains a possibility. His agent met with New York again at the combine last week, but a return could depend on a price.
How much Beckham is looking for is unclear. Some reports have suggested as little as $7 million per season while others have said he’s seeking upwards of $20 million annually, which would price the Giants out of the market.
An ask of $20 million per year also seems a bit pie in the sky for a 30-year-old receiver who is returning after multiple serious injuries. But the positional market is also quite dry and Beckham is far and away the best player available, which could drive up his price a bit.
The cost will certainly determine the Giants’ interest, but general manager Joe Schoen has never shied away from the possibility of signing Beckham. They’ve kept a close eye on him since meeting face-to-face last season and remained linked to their former first-round draft pick.
