The New York Giants have made several big splashes in free agency and many assumed they were finished, but might they have one more trick up their sleeve?

Despite the signing of Adoree’ Jackson, the Giants are apparently still looking for some help at the cornerback position. And as fate would have it, there are still some quality options floating around out there.

Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post reports that the Giants and cornerback Jason McCoutry share a mutual interest.

The 33-year-old McCoutry was actually a member of our Homegrown Legends Team back in September. Here’s what we had written about him at the time:

McCourty and his twin brother, Devin, were born and raised in Rockland County, New York, and attended high school just across the state line at Saint Joseph Regional High in Montvale, New Jersey. Jason, who played corner and was a star running back, was recruited more heavily than Devin, who played safety. Jason considering attend Boston College, but the Eagles didn’t offer Devin a scholarship. When Rutgers made offers to both Jason and Devin, the brothers committed to the Scarlet Knights.

Jason recorded 150 tackles in 47 games at Rutgers and was drafted in the sixth round by the Tennessee Titans in 2009. He spent eight seasons with the Titans and one with the Cleveland Browns before joining Devin on the New England Patriots in 2018. Jason has 18 interceptions in 150 career NFL regular-season games and won Super Bowl LIII with the Pats.

McCoutry received a Pro Football Focus grade of 55.7 last season, which was the second-lowest grade of his career. However, that comes on the heels of three consecutive seasons grading out at 74.4 or better.

There is some level of familiarity between head coach Joe Judge and McCoutry, so we’ll see if that factors into any potential pursuit by the Giants.
