Report: Georgia co-DC speaking with Philadelphia Eagles

Georgia Bulldogs co-defensive coordinator coach Glenn Schumann is speaking with the Philadelphia Eagles about their open DC role

Georgia Bulldogs co-defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach Glenn Schumann is speaking with the Philadelphia Eagles regarding their open defensive coordinator role.

Schumann is a key reason why Georgia has won back-to-back national championships. He is a young and talented coach. Schumann has coached with Kirby Smart for the majority of his coaching career. He has been a piece of six national championship winning teams.

Glenn Schumann has been Georgia’s co-defensive coordinator since when Mel Tucker left Georgia in 2019. He assumed a larger role last season after Dan Lanning accepted the head coaching job at the University of Georgia.

Jonathon Gannon, who is now the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, was previously the defensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles under head coach Nick Sirianni.

If Glenn Schumann takes a job with another team, then Georgia will likely promote within and have Will Muschamp be the defensive coordinator. Muschamp is already Georgia’s co-defensive coordinator.

Eagles Wire has a list of potential candidates that Schumann is expected be competing against.

Why are college coaches darting for the NFL these days? The complications of name, image and likeness along with the packed recruiting calendar makes it a yearlong grind for coaches.

If Glenn Schumann joins the Eagles, then he would be reunited with Nakobe Dean and Jordan Davis.

Dan Matthews, of 680 The Fan in Atlanta, reported the news of Schumann’s talk with the Eagles.
