Report: Falcons to sign lightning-fast former XFL receiver

On Wednesday, after working out free-agent wide receiver/kick returner Jeff Badet, the Falcons will reportedly be signing wide receiver Jeff Badet, according to the NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

The Atlanta Falcons traded Julio Jones to the Tennessee Titans a week ago, which freed up enough cap space to sign their 2021 draft class, while still leaving a little bit of money to sign free agents.

Since the trade, Atlanta has signed five of the team’s nine rookies, along with linebacker Jeff Holland. On Wednesday, after working out free-agent wide receiver/kick returner Jeff Badet, the Falcons will reportedly be signing the former Oklahoma Sooner to a contract, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Badet recently played for the XFL’s Dallas Renegades, before landing with the Washington Football team in 2020. The 26-year-old former undrafted free agent played in three games for Washington last season, recording zero catches on one target.

He should add some depth and competition to the Falcons’ kick return game, which already features rookie Avery Williams and veteran Cordarrelle Patterson.
