Report: Everson Griffen interested in Seahawks, waiting for Clowney

Defensive end Everson Griffen is interested in joining the Seattle Seahawks and will wait until Jadeveon Clowney’s decision to re-sign.

The Seattle Seahawks may have a need for defensive end Everson Griffen and a new report suggests Griffen could be looking at Seattle as an option for his home for the 2020 season.

Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press, citing a source close to Griffen, tweeted on Tuesday that he “definitely has interest” in joining the Seahawks should they decide not to re-sign Jadeveon Clowney.

After nearly three weeks of free agency, there remains very little news as to where Clowney or Seattle stands on the negotiations. As it is practically impossible for both players to come to the Emerald City, the Seahawks will have to try for one or the other.

Griffen played for coach Pete Carroll during his tenure at USC and this could provide an additional reason for Griffen to want to sign with Seattle. Clowney, on the other hand, is already familiar with the Seahawks and their system and could be waiting on the right offer.

One thing is clear though, the Seahawks must pursue either Clowney or Griffen to aid their pass rush for 2020.
