Despite speculation that the Kansas City Chiefs could be interested in trading for Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams, NFL insider Adam Schefter reported on Wednesday that the defending champions are “not expected to be an option” in any deal involving the All-Pro pass catcher.
The news comes just days after star wideout Rashee Rice was injured in Kansas City’s Week 4 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday afternoon.
Rice is expected to miss extended time, though his official injury status remains unknown heading into the Chiefs’ Week 5 tilt against the New Orleans Saints on “Monday Night Football.”
And while the Jets and Saints interest Adams, there are other teams that remain interested in the Raiders wide receiver.
Despite any speculation, the team not expected to be an option is Kansas City, per sources. https://t.co/YDLCRIFMe2

Kansas City hasn’t yet made any moves in response to Rice’s injury, and at this juncture, it seems more likely that general manager Brett Veach will elevate a wide receiver from the Chiefs’ practice squad rather than trade for an already-established talent like Adams.
Stay tuned to see how Veach decides to deal with Rice’s absence.
