After the Chicago Bulls’ ugly start to the season, it seemed certain that they would enter a rebuild by the deadline. But they’ve bene playing much better lately, and now, it’s unclear what path Arturas Karnisovas will choose to take. Rebuilding the roster would make sense, but they’re also good enough to push for a playoff appearance.
Throughout his time leading Chicago’s front office, Karnisovas has remained adamant about staying competitive. He has avoided a rebuild at all close, even ending the Bulls’ most recent rebuild by trading for star veterans. However, he does have one very clear goal at this year’s deadline.
While a full-on rebuild may not be in the cards, the Bulls are still planning on trading Zach LaVine in hopes of restructuring the roster on the fly, per Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times.
“Bulls executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas continues to be focused on first trying to unload LaVine and reload this roster on the fly,” Cowley wrote.
LaVine has been one of the biggest names brought up in trade rumors for the past few months, and with how well the Bulls performed when he was injured, combined with his massive contract, it makes sense they may want to move on from him.
A lot of teams have reportedly shown interest in trading for the Bulls guard, and with Chicago’s desire to get him off the roster, it feels as though a deal could be imminent.
It may just be a matter of time before LaVine is no longer wearing the red and black.
